Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Sacred Journey Recovery

Darbie Lastra

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Darbie Lastra is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Sacred Journey Recovery. Darbie’s passion for this work is deeply personal. Having witnessed addiction and recovery within her own family system and in multiple close relationships, she understands the profound impact substance use can have. This lived experience allows her to bring empathy, insight, and compassion to those struggling with addiction as well as to the loved ones affected by it.

Darbie’s clinical work is grounded in Attachment Theory, Humanistic Therapy, and EMDR Therapy, creating a compassionate, trauma-informed environment where healing can unfold. She helps clients explore not only their relationship with substances, but also the underlying emotional wounds, trauma, and relational patterns that contribute to use. Her approach balances accountability with empathy, empowering clients to build insight, strengthen coping skills, and tolerate discomfort without returning to old patterns.

She has experience working across the full continuum of care, including detox, residential treatment, PHP, and IOP, supporting individuals navigating substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health challenges, and trauma. Darbie also has experience working with families and couples, helping loved ones improve communication, rebuild trust, and navigate relational challenges with greater understanding and connection.

Darbie understands that recovery is not linear. The path toward healing can bring uncertainty and challenges. Darbie provides a safe, compassionate space to work through each stage of the journey. Her goal is to help clients move beyond survival and toward a life that feels more connected, aligned, and sustainable in recovery.

Outside of her clinical work, Darbie is a proud mother of three and the wife of a veteran. Her personal experiences have deepened her understanding of resilience, family dynamics, and the unique challenges families can face. She finds joy and grounding in nature, animals, spending time outdoors, and values the healing and restorative qualities that it brings. Darbie’s warmth, authenticity, and deep compassion extend beyond the therapy room, allowing her to connect with clients in a genuine and meaningful way.
